In-Service Tank Repair Solutions

At PHC, we offer advanced friction welding solutions to ensure high-strength, reliable joints without melting the base materials. This solid-state joining technique uses heat generated by mechanical friction combined with pressure to create durable bonds, ideal for applications requiring precision and structural integrity. Our expertise in friction weld technology allows us to serve industries such as automotive, aerospace, and energy with cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions.

  • Cost-effective alternative when service needs to be suspended for conventional repairs.

  • Welding without filler material, gas, flame, oxygen, or arc.

  • Minimal heat-affected zone.

  • Joins dissimilar metallurgies.

  • Reduces occupational hazards (no radiation, no toxic gases).

  • Technique endorsed by API 653, 2023 Edition.

  • Solid-State Metal Joining Process

Failure Analysis Report (FAR)

PHC provides comprehensive Failure Analysis Reports (FARs) to investigate and identify the root causes of equipment and component failures. Our reports combine engineering expertise with advanced tools to support informed decision-making, improve asset integrity, and prevent recurrence.

We integrate the following methodologies:

COMPRESS Calculations

Using COMPRESS software, we perform detailed mechanical design verification for pressure vessels and static equipment based on ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 & 2 standards. These calculations allow us to:

  • Validate design parameters and compliance with code requirements

  • Assess minimum required thicknesses and allowable stress levels

  • Identify overpressure, fatigue, or corrosion-related issues

  • Compare operational conditions with design limits

  • Support rerating or repair recommendations

This ensures a data-driven evaluation of pressure-related failures.

Through ANSYS FEA, we simulate real-world operating conditions and perform advanced stress analysis on failed or at-risk components. Our capabilities include:

  • 3D modeling of complex geometries and loading scenarios

  • Stress concentration and deformation mapping

  • Fatigue, creep, and thermal stress assessments

  • Failure mode identification using Von Mises and other criteria

  • Visualization of failure-prone zones for engineering validation

FEA simulations offer powerful insights to support root cause determination and corrective actions.

Together, COMPRESS and ANSYS allow us to deliver high-accuracy failure diagnostics backed by code-based calculations and engineering simulations—ensuring safe, reliable, and optimized asset performance.
